Concept Interactive was recently awarded Department of Education provisional registration as a Private FET College which is valid until the end of 2014.
In order for Concept's learning programmes to become aligned with SAQA's various creative courses, they have submitted applications to MAPPP-Seta for approval of their course outline, learner guides and assessment material. This will enable competent students to earn credits towards national certificates.
One such qualification submitted is the National Certificate: Design Techniques, NQF Level 5, which would allow Concept to continue their already well-established and respected delivery of quality training for the digital design industry.
Concept is currently awaiting approval in order to commence this one-year National Certificate in Design Techniques at the beginning of 2009. The course will comprise the following learning programmes:
- Theory of Design I
- Image Acquisition (Adobe Photoshop CS4)
- Design Technology I - Print Media (Adobe InDesign CS4 & Adobe Illustrator CS4)
- Professional Practice (including MSOffice)
- Marketing I - Traditional marketing
- Design Technology II - Advanced Graphics Creation
- Design Technology III - Web Media
- Portfolio
Upon being certified as competent, a student will either be able to enter the industry and make a constructive contribution as a light-/middleweight graphic designer in a creative team in the advertising, web, new media environments or alternatively with the credits earned, be able to continue with further qualifications in the creative industries

Concept Interactive's lecturers give workshops at the Launch of Adobe CS4 After an Adobe workshop in early October to which a limited number of lecturers were selected to participate, three of Concept Interactive's lecturers were invited to present workshops at the launch of Adobe CS4 in Cape Town to demonstrate some of the new features to the industry.
Concept has subsequently given free workshops to ensure that the industry is totally aware of the upgrade offered by Adobe CS4 and have made themselves available to consult with any of their clients on the merits of the newly launched CS4.
Adobe Accredited ExpertsAs has always be the case with Adobe software upgrades, Concept will require their lecturers to take the necessary international Adobe examination as soon as they have been published in order to not only retain their own ACE (Adobe Accredited Expert) status but also ensure Concept's clients that the company continues to offer expertise and quality in all learning programmes.
Concept buys new hardware to offer efficient Adobe CS4 trainingOwing to the hardware specification requirements to run Adobe CS4 upgrades, Concept has purchased fifteen new Apple Macs and fifteen new PCs and will include CS4 part-time short courses and CS4 upgrade sessions in its schedule as early as December 2008.
End-of-Year ExhibitionAn exhibition of Concept Interactive's 2008 students' work will be held on Thursday, 27 November 13h00 - 18h00 and Friday, 28 November 09h00 - 14h00. Whether you are in the industry or a prospective student - everyone is welcome to come and view both the students' printed or interactive digital portfolios.
